Aloha from Paradise!
On the east side of the Big Island of Hawaii, I own a 4 bedroom/3 bath, 1,600+ sq. ft. (150 sq. m.), single story, newer home on 2 acres (.8 hectares). It is secluded and peaceful being mostly surrounded by natural tropical vegetation. From the front covered porch, entry is through double doors into the living, kitchen and dining area with 12 ft. (3.6 m.) vaulted ceilings. Ceiling fans in every room, French doors in the living room, big windows and a couple of sliding glass doors gives the feeling of indoor/outdoor living that is so prevalent in the islands.
One side of the house has the master suite with bedroom, bathroom, walk in closet and a sliding glass door opening onto the back patio. On the other side of the house is my guest wing with 3 bedrooms (1 with a walk in closet) and bathroom. (Since I live by myself, I am able to host you in the guest wing at anytime!) On the back side of the house is a carport with an attached bathroom and laundry room. The back patio also has a 5 person, 27 jet, solar heated hot tub.

Ce que vous allez adorer dans le quartier
I live in a very desirable rural subdivision called Hawaiian Paradise Park. My home is 8 blocks from the ocean and it is a pleasant walk to the sea bluff overlooking the water. In winter months, you may even see whales breaching here! Here is a video from youtube of the very picturesque beach closest to my home: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zzOxwJz24qA
15 minutes away is the funky village of Pahoa with a good selection of restaurants. 15 mi. (24 km.) further down the road is the scenic coastline of Kalapana with pockets of black sand beaches, natural geothermal tide pools and steam vents. Full range of beach activities are available from sunbathing, snorkeling, surfing and fishing. You can even swim with the dolphins and sea turtles! Kalapana also has a Wednesday evening market with live local, Hawaiian music.
The charming town of Hilo is 30 minutes away with a full range of shopping, dining and entertainment options. Hilo is located on a beautiful, park like bay with 13,000 ft. (4 kilometer) mountains Mauna Kea and Mauna Loa as backdrops. In the winter they are often snow capped! Hilo’s Farmer’s Market is noted for having all sort of exotic tropical fruits and vegetables. If you’re looking for the real Hawaii with few tourists, this is it!

Le mot de la fin
An hour away is Hawaii Volcanoes National Park with many sightseeing/hiking options from tropical rainforests and bird life to volcanic craters. If you’re lucky you might even see active lava flows either here or flowing into the sea!
Other Big Island adventures include the drive along the lush Hamakua coast with its many waterfalls and sea cliffs. At the end is magnificent Waipio Valley accessible only by 4 wheel drive truck. You also need a 4 wheel drive truck to get to the top of Mauna Kea which has a dozen of the best astronomical observatories in the world. Fortunately for you, if we opt for a car exchange, I have a 4 wheel drive, pick up truck to use!
On the other side of the Big Island is the resort area of Kona with many white sand beaches. Here too grows the famous Kona Coffee. The cowboy town of Waimea, home to the quarter million acre Parker Ranch lies half way between Hilo and Kona. There is nothing like grass feed beef! The Big Island is bigger than all the other Hawaiian Islands combined, so there is plenty to see and do!
