Ce que vous allez adorer dans ce logement
This is a new, designer home (check it out on the architect's website, atelierrvl.com, or else watch the TV program https://france3-regions.francetvinfo.fr/centre-val-de-loire/touraine/indre-loire/belles-maisons-contemporaines-region-centre-val-loire-596188.html). The house has been slightly altered since then (a pool, wine cellar and plants have been added, also the weather was not too good on the day the journalists showed up to do the shooting in autumn but never mind that).
It is made of wood, consists of two parts, the night side and the day-light area. The main floor has a large living -dining area, a bathroom, laundry, bedroom, a garage and a porch (unusual in France); then there is a split-level for the baby grand-piano. Upstairs is a family room with large TV screen (Netflix, Canal+), a reading area with a sofa, a bathroom, a bedroom, an attic (half storage, half bedroom). Outside enjoy the porch, bbq, the pool, and large garden. Smokers can light up out on the porch. The more adventurous may also frolic in the woods up the hill.
The property is surrounded by vineyards and is located in a green, hilly area known as Vallée de Cousse. Our village, Vernou sur Brenne, is about 10 miles east of the city of Tours (pop 300,000), a hub for worldwide tourists touring the countless chateaux of the world heritage site. The area is great for hiking and biking, (Loire à Vélo offers miles of bike trails, and our winding back roads through the vineyards are a must for weekend bikers). La Touraine is well known for its architecture and gardens, and the lovely local towns and villages - not to mention gourmet food. Well, we are very happy here in Vernou and hope you will share our enthusiasm.

Ce que vous allez adorer dans le quartier
Note that we are in the countryside and a car is necessary to enjoy the sites even if a few chateaux are within walking (Jallanges) or biking distance. Tours is in the heart of the Loire Valley, part of the Unesco world heritage, an excellent base to enjoy the charming limestone villages and countless architectural jewels of the area (royal parks and chateaux, mediaeval towns).
The area (La Touraine) is nicknamed "jardin de la France". What we love best is the light of this wine-growing region and the numerous valleys. Our good friends Pascal and Pascale are wine growers and run the winery up the hill (La Galinière, wonderful wine and estate).
A new bike trail now links some of the most popular sites along the Loire, many Americans and Europeans now come to the area for a biking experience. Paris is a 1-hour train ride (by fast train service, aka TGV) or a 2-and-a-half-hour drive. Southern Brittany and the Atlantic coast are 2 and a half hours away, while Poitiers' Futuroscope (a media-oriented theme park) is one hour to the south, and award winning zoo of Beauval 50mn east. Most chateaux (Chenonceaux, Amboise, Chaumont...are less than a half hour from our home (including Mick Jagger's, though you won't be allowed in unless you're invited...), and two are within biking (Valmer) and walking (Jallanges) distance (one of our favorite walks from home). Finally we love the city of Tours itself with its fine restaurants, outdoor cafés, pedestrian precinct, modern art museum (CCCOD), the mediaeval district and beautiful cathedral.
