2. We are usually present at the same time as home-exchangers. We reside in close-by separate building.

Our seafront exchange home is named Pepper's Beach in tribute to a much loved canine friend. It Is a self contained mahogany walled studio cottage. It has a stove/oven and multiple small kitchen appliances. The cottage size and bed arrangement are suitable for only one couple plus up to three children. (There is an in an additional room in separate building with a 3/4 bed).
Pepper's Bach offers more than just a seafront place stay. It comes with a fiberglass fishing canoe, 4 recreational single kayaks, a 16' x 32' x 4' above ground pool and two e-bikes.

Our house is located in the Surfside Community, which is comprised of approximately 48 properties that are situated between the sea and the lagoon. The two bodies of water are separated by only 1/4 mile of land. One can kayak on either body of water.
The home-exchange guest studio is one level and set back about 125 feet from the sea. It is five miles North of Placencia Village, one mile North of Seine Bight and 1.5 miles South of Maya Beach. View our aerial photos.
Just off-shore from Pepper's, there is healthy coral. Sea visibility varies. Thus snorkeling feasibility varies. For excellent snorkeling, a one-day snorkel trip with a tour company is recommended. You will experience beautiful white sand islands with clear blue water. There one often swims with nurse sharks, rays plus a variety of other sea life. There are also many good dive sites.
Activities: Walk for miles on the public beach, the Queen's easement. Swing in a hammock under our cool thatch roof palapa. Dive at the world's second longest barrier reef. Enjoy day tours to islands or jungles. Visit Cockscomb Basin Wildlife Reserve for self guided jungle hiking and river tubing. New to the neighborhood are pickleball and miniature golf courts..
Stann Creek District area is known for:
* Beaches
* Reef snorkeling and diving day tours. Often there is snorkeling in front of our home.
* The Placencia Village sidewalk/road that is parallel to the sea and is over 1 mile long.
When the Village had no road access, it was built to transport wheel barrels.
Businesses, cafes and homes line the sidewalk today.
* Placencia’s excellent restaurants including several on the beach.
* Eco-Monkey River and Jungle tours
*Cockscomb Basin Wildlife Reserve: Very low cost self guided river tubing and jungle walks. We are willing to
provide transport and join you for the river float.

Living and visiting in Belize is not cheap. Expect grocery store prices to be similar the that in US. However dining out can be much lower only if you patronize a locally owned restaurant

We can not do simultaneous exchanges between November and April. Only exchanges of 4 to 14 days are accepted. There is a year-around caretaker/house manager, Mr. Norman. He can answer your questions about just about any thing regarding the peninsula. He resides in the lower part of the owner's resident.
The cottage has no a/c. It is not needed from December-Mid-March. There are numerous fans including effective ceiling fans. The large breezy thatched roofed palapa is nearly always cool. In Spring and Summer it is quite warm. Too hot for some people.

If you and your children are not fussy, they are welcome to sleep in Linda's simple hobby room that is located 15 feet from studio. It has a 3/4 murphy style bed.
We have pets. One is an energetic 6-year old 19lb mixed terrier, who travels with us to and from Belize. There is also a 1 year old Belizean dog, who is a very good companion to our much respected caretaker, Mr. Norman. There is also have a very active cat. The pets roam our residence but are not permitted in the exchange cottage.
Motor scooter is checked as an amenity because it is the closest description to our two electric bicycles. Guests do best, convenience-wise if they rent a car, although it is expensive and not absolutely necessary. Cars can be rented at the international airport for your entire stay or locally by the day on the Peninsula. There are buses during peak hours and taxi..
To get to Placencia, one can fly by a domestic airplane, take a shuttle, rent a car, or possibly arrange for an economical private pickup by our terrific caretaker, Mr Norman. We frequently recommend that exchangers first night be spent at the very reasonably priced Belize Tropical Education Center (AKA Belize Zoo Lodge), which is only 45 min from the airport. Pickups for it are arranged through TEC.
For Guest Point exchanges there is a one-time $45US cleaning fee, not due until arrival.
